Healing doesn’t follow a straight line, it’s layered, personal, and often messy. But you don’t have to walk it alone.

Healing doesn’t follow a straight line, it’s layered, personal, and often messy. But you don’t have to walk it alone.

I’m Kate. I’m a therapist by training and an intuitive, grounded healer at heart. I work with individuals, couples, and youth who are navigating life’s toughest transitions - grief, trauma, anxiety, relationship breakdowns, identity shifts, and all the wild, unexpected turns along the way.

My undergraduate degree is in Family Science, as I have always been inspired by how small changes in an individual can alter the way an entire family functions; trust can be rebuilt, connection restored. I am passionate about supporting individuals and couples grow, adapt, learn, and change and how even the most painful events in our lives can be integrated to create meaning and joy.

My background includes over 20 years supporting vulnerable youth and families, a Master’s in Social Work, and training in trauma therapies such as EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). My approach combines evidence-based methods with deep emotional presence and body-based awareness, because trauma lives not just in the mind, but in the nervous system.

My approach

Counselling is a return to relationship with yourself.

Counselling is a return to relationship with yourself.

Intentional change is hard, but together we will begin to address the thoughts that creep in late at night, or the anxiety and panic that is always just there, the weight on your chest that you can’t quite get free of.

Counselling is more than just healing the patterns in our lives, it is an elevated self-care, where in a safe, supportive space, we are called back to relationship with ourselves. I’m here to help facilitate that reconnection.

I employ a holistic approach grounded in meeting clients where they are at and using elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Modalities, Mindfulness, and Somatic techniques.

Our bodies store memories of traumatic experiences. In session, we will explore the physical sensations that accompany hard feelings and how they resonate in our nervous system. We may also use eye movements, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to process memory and release pain.

A bit about me

The things that make me human matter here, too.

I’m a mother, a partner, a trauma survivor, a yoga lover (who can barely touch her toes), and a graffiti art collector.

Loss has been a long teacher in my life, and not a gentle one. It’s also the reason I know something good can grow in the wreckage: a positive relationship built after divorce, a remarriage, a blended family still learning how to be one. It is not tidy. I’ve stopped needing it to be.

Before I ever opened a private practice, I spent years on the frontlines, sitting with youth in crisis, with people in the thick of addiction, and with families holding on by their fingernails. Those rooms taught me what no textbook could: people don’t need fixing. They need someone who will walk into the storm with them, and not leave when it gets loud.

That’s how I work. I start my day in my own body, with breath and stillness, because I can’t ask you to be present in yours if I’m not in mine. I won’t carry you, and I won’t lead you. I’ll sit in the heavy places with you, make room for all of it, and walk beside you until you trust your own way forward.

I love adventure, and I’m proud of every wobbly, wind-blown minute of it, even the parts I’m terrible at. I learned to ride a motorcycle at 40 and I still can’t lean into a corner to save my life. I’m more gypsy hippy than hardcore biker, but I love the code, the way strangers on the road look out for each other, and the feel of wind on my face. I climbed on a horse for the first time at 45. I’ve been bucked off five times and counting, and I’m not gifted at that either. But there is medicine in a horse: the rhythm, the beauty, the way my whole body settles just by being near them. I laugh out loud at myself a lot. It turns out that being a beginner, over and over, is a pretty good way to stay humble.

Which is how we ended up with a would-be hobby farm, built side by side with my husband: two horses, three fainting goats, five dogs, and one orange cat (my husband hates cats, and the cat has not been informed).

The rest of the time you’ll find me with spicy food, dystopian movies, epic debates, and all the awkward, vulnerable moments that come with being human. I write cheesy poems for fun. Mostly they sound like Hallmark cards, and my family pretends to love them.

I believe in the power of connection, the magic of telling the truth, and the quiet strength it takes to heal.
